In fact, superstar Aamir Khan and his ex-wife and filmmaker Kiran Rao recently reached the Supreme Court for a special screening of their film ‘Missing Ladies’. During this, he also interacted with the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. Several judges of the apex court attended the screening held on Friday. During the conversation, Aamir revealed that his decision to produce ‘Missing Ladies’ stemmed from both “fear and desire”. Talking about his career, the actor shared “During COVID, at the age of 56, I realized that this is the last phase of my career. I would have 15 more years left for active work, and I wanted to give it back. The industry, society and the country have given me a lot. I thought I could do one film a year, but as a producer, I can back many stories that I feel strongly about.”

Aamir Khan wants to give a platform to new talent
Aamir, who is known to support socially relevant films, emphasised his commitment to promoting new voices in filmmaking. Aamir said, “Through producing, I can provide a platform to new writers, directors and everyone involved in the process. Missing Ladies is the first step in that direction. I want to promote such talent and hope to make four to five films a year so that we can see more such films.”

What was the inspiration behind the missing ladies
Chief Justice Chandrachud asked about the inspiration behind the film. To this, Kiran Rao replied that it all started with an original script by Biplab Goswami. Aamir discovered the script during the Screen Writers Association Competition in 2020, and he decided to buy the rights. “We added more humour to the dramatic narrative,” Kiran shared.

Despite the advice to release the film directly on the OTT platform, he chose to release it in theatres. On this Kiran said, “The film has received a lot of love from the audience and I am happy that we took it to the big screen.”
